Ellen Ernestine Allred Sawyer, age 80, of Excel, AL died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and was a member of the Excel Baptist Church. She had worked for the hospital as a nurse's aid.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Curtis Lee Allred and Donald Sawyer; and one daughter: Debra Allred. She is survived by five sons: Randall Allred and David Allred, both of Excel, AL; Hilton Allred, Mexia, AL; Johnny (Debra) Allred, Mexia, AL, and Kenny (Lynne) Allred, Piedmont, OK; five daughters: Maxine (Max) Burch, Clanton, AL; Barbara (Rob) Perdue, Thorsby, AL; Nancy (Terry) Turberville, Susie (Jim) Hudson, and Patty Ikner, all of Excel, AL; one sister: Peggy Rowell, Excel, AL; one brother: Douglas Andrews, Hattiesburg, MS; twenty six grandchildren; and thirty eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, May 21, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Excel Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne McMillian officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Union Cemetery in Frisco City with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
