Jas P. Stricklett was born June 24, 1832 near Concord in Lewis County, Kentucky. After a lingering illness of ten weeks in which he shoed Christian fortitude and character in a remarkable degree, he went to his reward at his home Tuesday morning, June 12. He got married to Catherine Carter July 6, 1854. To this union were born twelve children, five girls and seven boys, to whom three girls and three boys have gone on before. Two daughters, four sons and a wife remain to mourn his loss. Deceased moved to Blair April 1867. He was united with his Lord in Christian baptism when he was 18 years old. He became discouraged and drifted back into the world after coming to this country but about eighteen years ago he returned to the Masters vineyard and lived as near the great throbbing forgiving heart of his Savior as it was possible for anyone under similar circumstances.
