Mr Claude W Herndon, 83, of Abingdon, died March 9, 2003 at Bristol Memorial Regional Medical Center. A native of Swords Creek, VA; Mr Herndon had lived there since 1975.

He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was retired from the construction business. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Clark Herndon. Survivors include his son, Tim Herndon of Glade Spring; one daughter, Betty Diane Apuzzo of Cookeville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Claude's middle name may be Winfrey

A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pastor Carl Robinson will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Farris Cremation and Funeral Center, located on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, (276) 623-2727.
