Armenian Poet and Translator. He was born in the village of Lor near Sisian and became one of the greatest contemporary Armenian poets. In 1939 Sahyan graduated from the Baku Pedagogical institute. In 1941 he moved to Yerevan, and then served in the Soviet Navy during World War II. His first collection of poems was published in 1946. He was editor and contributor to several Armenian journals. His collection "Open Sesame" won the State Prize of Armenia. His best works include "Evening Meal", "The Call of the Tribe", and "Mint Flower".
