Mrs. Emma Killoren Dies at Muscotah
Mrs. Emma Killoren, 72,whose home was 5 1/2 miles northeast of Muscotah in the Brush Creek community, died Thursday night at about 11 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Broadhurst of Kennekuk where she had been since her condition became critical. Mrs. Killoren was born near Powhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Backenstoce. She married John Killoren who preceded her in death about 12 years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Hazel Scheid also preceded her in death. She is survived by six children; Mrs. Helen Sullivan of California, Mrs. Broadhurst of Kennekuk, Mrs. Guy Jerome of Muscotah, Harry Killoren and Dick Killoren, both of the home, and Sgt. Tom Killoren who is serving with the armed forces overseas, by two brothers, Ross Backenstoce of Topeka and Ote Backenstoce and by three grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Rake's Funeral Home of Horton, with burial at Powhattan.
