Susan Marie (Pelkey) Corliss, age 55 years, a lifelong Alburgh resident and more recently of Windmill Point died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2010, in a tragic automobile accident in North Hero.

Born in Alburgh on, February 19, 1955, she was the daughter of Wallace Sr. and Nina (Shedrick) Pelkey.

She attended BFA-St. Albans and Missisquoi Valley Union High School and on September 22, 1977, was married to Peter Gerald Corliss who predeceased her on July 27, 2009.

Sue will always be remembered as a faithful and devoted wife and mother who looked forward to traveling and spending time with her family. Her favorite past times were playing Bingo, crocheting, country music and collecting jewelry. She was also known to be an excellent writer. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church.

Susan leaves her mother, Nina Pelkey; two sons, Peter Lowe Corliss and his wife Stacy, Daniel Owen Corliss and two grandchildren, Peter Joseph Corliss and Brooklyn Jayde Corliss all of Alburgh; a sister, Connie Shedrick and husband Isadore of Clarenceville, PQ and a brother Wallace R. Pelkey and his wife Judy of Alburgh as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Peter, Sue was predeceased by her father, Wallace Pelkey Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Lawrence P. Ridgley pastor of the Island Roman Catholic Parish will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Pelkey family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Gifts in Sue's memory may be made to the, Alburgh Fire and Rescue, 4 Firehouse Rd. Alburgh 05440.
