Mr. Lewis Tate, age 79, a resident of Tate Lane in Sparta passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Mississippi to the late Harry Frank and Jewel Marie Howell Tate. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers: Frank and Jim Tate. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with service in Vietnam and Korea.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Robinson Chapel Cemetery with full military honors. The Family will receive friends after 6 pm on Wednesday Evening at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife: Laura Mae Tate of Sparta, 2 Daughters: Laurel Jo Hunter of Franklin,TN and Cynthia Lynn Tate of Sparta, 2 Sisters: Barbara Insley of Maryland and Marie Ayers of Indiana, 2 Grandchildren: Emilee and Aimee Hunter.

Bro. Cleve Hitchcock will officiate the services.
