Terry was killed in action in Eschweiler, (near Aachen), Germany on 24 Nov 1944. His body was returned to the USA and buried 19 Nov 1947 at Camp Butler Cemetery. He was awarded the Bronze Star posthumously for actions carried out 31 Oct 1944 when he organized and led, while under fire, the successful rescue of several fellow soldiers who had been wounded while on patrol.
