Edmund Belda, age 88, died on Tuesday, July 13, 1993, at a Madison hospital after a brief illness. He was born on February 13, 1905, in the Town of Windsor, the son of William and Ida (Conrad) Belda. He married Berniece M. Runde on August 18, 1931, in Hazel Green. They owned and operated a farm in Windsor Township until 1949, when the family moved to Sun Prairie. He served on the board of directors for the Madison Milk Products Producers, Dane County Farm Bureau, Dane County Service Co. In 1948 he joined Paul A. Robinson as a Partner In Robinson and Belda Real Estate. He then purchased an insurance business which was operated as Belda Insurance. He was a director and President of Middleton Insurance Co., a charter director of Prairie State Bank and later a Director of United Bank, and Director Emeritus of Valley Bank in Sun Prairie. He was a member of the Sun Prairie Lions Club for over 50 years and a past president. He also was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and past president and director of the Sun Prairie Colonial Club. He was presently living at the Evora Lodge since 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Clem) Batz of Sun Prairie, Barbara (Bill) Young of Sun Prairie, and Beatrice (Edward) Pronley of Brookfield; a son, John (Joan) Belda of Sun Prairie; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Conrad (Marie) Belda of Sun Prairie, and Rev. Leo W. Belda of Sussex; and a sister, Henrietta Reak of San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a brother, Monsignor Walter. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am. on Saturday, July 17, 1993, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. Father Leo W. Belda and Father Kevin Holmes will officiate. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 1993, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. and Lions Club Honor Guard will be held at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Sacred Hearts Endowment Fund or Colonial Club.
