BENNY M. THOMLEY

Mr. Benny M. Thomley of Slocomb went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 20, 2010 at his family residence with his wife and daughter at his side. He was 70. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1149, Slocomb, AL 36375 or to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301 The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00p.m. Mr. Thomley was born on December 28, 1939 in Houston County, AL to the late Russe and Camilla Haymon Thomley. He was an ordained Deacon and active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He also retired from Woodalls Heating and Air Conditioning of Dothan after 30 years. Survivors include his wife of 48 years; Mary Ellen Thomley, of Slocomb; one daughter and son-in-law; Angella and Mike Jones of Slocomb, one brother and sister-in-law, Jennings and Bette Thomley of Greeneville, TN, one brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Reggie and Kaye Mitchell of Slocomb, one granddaughter, Meagan Jones, several nieces and nephews. Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb, (334) 886-7777, is in charge of arrangements.
