His father died when he was 2 years, 9 months, and 27 days old. This untimely death of his father forced his mother, Mrs. Agnes (nee Stephens) Tumbrink, to move from the city of Carrollton, Kentucky, back to Louisville, Kentucky, so that she could live with her mother.
In later years, it was said that William H. Tumbrink became a "distiller" at the Jack Daniels Company in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and subsequently became a member of the United States Federal Protection Service from 1916 to 1918.
At the time of his death, he was the Assistant Vice President of the Federal Cold and Storage Company in the City of Saint Louis, Missouri.
He was the husband of Adelaide C. (nee Witte) Tumbrink, the father of four, and the grandfather of 10.
His wake was held at the Lupton Funeral Chapel on January 7, 1955, with his burial the next day at Calvary Cemetery on January 8, 1955.
