Washington, UT- November 17, 2011 our loving mother passed peacefully at home, wearing the same sweet smile she had worn throughout her life.

Helen Bentley Nisson Jolley was born to Herbert Roy and Leonora Snow Bentley in St George, UT on November 21, 1924. She attended school locally until her sophomore year when she "sailed the winds of matrimony" with Darrell Alexander Nisson of Washington, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the St George Temple and bore five children.

Helen was happiest at home. Baking, raising her children and serving in various church callings brought her joy. No one ever left her home hungry and her laugh was often muffled by the shuffling of cards.

In 1983 her sweetheart Darrell died and those same "matrimonial winds" brought a new love, Wilford Jolley, and a new chapter to her life. Her apron didn't retire but was now competing with the call of the great outdoors and miles of unexplored asphalt. Wilford and Helen traveled the country from top to bottom, side to side. Their trips found her floating down the Amazon, admiring Holland's tulips and cheering at The Rose Parade.
"Helen B Nice ‘n Jolly" loved life and shared that joy with all around her.

She is survived by her children Janette (Donald) King, Bruce (Laurie) Nisson, Lonnie Nisson, Brenda Nisson, and two children shared with Wilford: David Jolley and Robert (Jolene) Jolley. She is also survived by her brothers Herbert S. Bentley and Marion J. Bentley. She thoroughly enjoyed 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son Sheldon and granddaughter Whitney Nisson Reese.

Her beloved sisters Alice Holland, Mildred Dailey, and Erma Sandberg were also on the other side to greet her.
The family wishes to thank all the friends and neighbors that she loved so over the years and to the many "adopted" kids and grandkids that enjoyed her candy drawer. Thank you to Dr. D Madsen and overwhelming thanks to our angels at Applegate HomeCare and Hospice. Also a special thank you to Bob McMillan for your care of our mom and your patience and willingness to arrange the service we wanted.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the church on Telegraph and Main in Washington, the church that as an original "Pie Lady" she baked thousands of pies to fund. There will be a viewing held Friday, Nov 25 at her home of 65 years (380 S 200 E in Washington) from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Interment to take place in the Washington City Cemetery, under the direction of McMillan Mortuary 435-688-6880.
