Norma R. Ellis, 87, of Lacona, died November 13, 2009, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. Born June 9, 1922, in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ruth Bentley Thacker. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School and was married to Arthur K. Ellis on July 3, 1940, in Fulton, NY. They lived in the Sandy Creek-Lacona area for over 50 years. Mrs. Ellis was employed at Kessler's Store in Sandy Creek for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis lived in Ormond Beach, Florida, from 1984 until Mr. Ellis died December 29, 2001, at which time Mrs. Ellis moved back to Lacona. She was a member of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Coterie Club, Fort Nightly Club, an avid bowler and maker of Mina dolls. Survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kirk and Kathy of Lacona and Robert and his companion, Grace Caufield, of Sandy Creek; four grandsons, Chris, Kevin, Larry and David; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services: noon Monday at Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Denise M. Bowen officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.

In the wedding announcement Norma is mentioned with a different maiden name, Clarence A. Hane is believed to be her real father (buried in California). Alfred Thacker would have been her step-dad:

Miss Norma Ruth Hane, daughter of Mrs. Arthur Thacker, and Arthur Kimball Ellis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Ellis, all of Lacona, were married Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the parsonage of the First Methodist church. The Rev. Charles Bollinger performed the ceremony.
