Mavis Starling, 85, of Baytown, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Baytown with her husband by her side.


Mavis was born March 1, 1925, in Liberty to Leonard Moss and Hazel Barrow Moss.

Mavis lived in Baytown most of her life, was the former owner of Will Style Beauty Shop and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing and shopping. She also volunteered her time at local nursing homes as a beautician.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Iris "Hopie" Moss Emerson and brothers, Ricky Moss, L.G. Moss and Robert Lee Moss.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, J. P. Starling of Baytown; son, Bobby Rao and wife Pat of Lexington, Texas; grandchildren, Stefanie Rao Mann and husband James of Baytown, Christie Rao Campbell and husband Omer, Jr. of Baytown and Pennie Rao Johnson and husband Todd S. of League City; great-grandchildren, Christopher James Mann, Shelbie Ann Campbell, Jaclyn Faith Johnson and Olivia Grace Johnson; sisters, Shirley Moss White and husband Bill of Baytown and Jenny Moss Street and husband Dick of Beach City and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Navarre Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Liberty with Rev. Darrell Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Norris Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
