Film Studio Executive. Born in Fort Lee, New Jersey, he was a long-time studio executive at Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios during Hollywood‘s golden years. He was known as "The Fixer", for his ability to smooth over potentially embarrassing, litigious or criminal activity that could possibly hurt the studio and company. Despite many unsavory rumors that he had connections to organized crime figures, Mannix was very much liked and respected in the film community. Years later some speculated that he might have had actor George Reeves murdered for having an affair with his wife actress Toni Mannix. But no credible evidence ever surfaced to support such a theory and he was never charged with a crime. He died at age 72 in Beverly Hills, California. For the film "Hollywoodland" (2006), the role of Eddie Mannix was played by actor Bob Hoskins.
