Ira was the son of Samuel and Lydia (Shaffer) King. Married Etta M Thornton, 1883 in Nebraska. They had 4 children: Edgar Bernard(1884-1956)married Millie Vista Clodfelter, Walter H(b-1886)married Caroline Maud, Grace G(b-1891)married Robert W Armstrong, and Winnie Tulla(1900-1966)married James Dowell Belvill.

Obituary from the Utica Enterprise:

Ira King was born in Monroe County, Iowa on October 12, 1860, his parents moving there from Pennsylvania. He came to Nebraska with his parents when a boy only ten years old. He was united in marriage to Miss Etta M Thornton, in Nebraska. In 1887 they moved to Kansas where they have resided ever since. Mr. King leaves, to mourn his death, one brother, two sisters, his wife and four children. Five children were born to this union, one having died in infancy. The living are Ed, Walter, Grace, and Winnie.

Mr. King took suddenly ill while in Utica last Friday, April 16 and passed away early in the morning of April 17, 1915. His many friends were some of the oldest settlers of this community and were very sorry to learn of his death. Mr. King left this earth at the age of fifty-four years, six months, and nine days.

The funeral was held at White School house last Saturday, April 17, burial being made in White Rock cemetery, near PenDennis.

Ira and Etta were my GG Grandparents. Frankie was the child who died in Infancy.
