Rev. Lavern E. Kieber attended Christ the King Seminary, St. Bonaventure University and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo on June 7, 1941 by Bishop John Duffy. He was associate pastor of Sacred Heart, St. Boniface, St. Louis, St. Mary Magdalene, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Bartholomew parishes, all in Buffalo; and St. Mary Church in St. Augustine, Florida.
From 1945 to 1948, Father Kieber was a chaplain in the United States Army, serving in the Panama Canal Zone. Later he served as chaplain in the Army National Guard, retiring after 29 years of military service with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He was pastor of St. Augustine Church in Clarence Center from 1960 to 1969 and was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Bowmansville in 1969 and served there until his death at the age of 73.
He was an avid golfer.
