Dedicated this year of our Lord, May 26, 2000, as "Francisco X. Vigil Day" in Los Lunas, New Mexico, Valencia County, for his bravery and integrity. Francisco X. Vigil, Chief Deputy Sheriff, was gunned down in the line of duty on May 25, 1898 while attempting to arrest the infamous "Bronco Bill" and "Kid Johnson" during the great Belen train robbery of 1898.
