Wayne Alan Taylor, 56, of Johnson City, passed away on April 8, 2007, at his residence.

Born in Johnson City, he was the son of the late Frank Taylor and Juanita Trivette Taylor of Johnson City.

Wayne graduated from Science Hill High School in 1968 and also attended Steed College and received military police training in Yorktown, VA. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Keystone Freewill Baptist Church and attended East Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at N & N Ball and Roller Inc. in Mountain City.

Spending time with his wife and family was most important to him. He enjoyed fixing things, helping others, fishing, playing poker with his friends and watching westerns on TV. Some of his favorite music included John Berry, Carol Roberson and songs that his sister-in-law Brenda would sing.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy and a brother, Mike.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Rebecca Phillips Taylor of Johnson City; sons, Steven Shane (Kelly) Taylor of Johnson City, James Alan Taylor of Johnson City; sisters, Kathy (Howard) Ray of Gray, Pat (Sam) Brackins of Johnson City; brothers, Ernest Lee Taylor of Johnson City and Benjamin Tracy Taylor of Johnson City; grandson, Jimmy Taylor; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Donald Pate of Johnson City, Donald Effler of Erwin, Chuck and Don Morrison of Johnson City.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Sunrise Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Crowe and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Washington County Memory Gardens with military honors.
Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Pate, Chuck Morrison, Don Morrison, Bill Hammons, Larry Edmiston, Darryl Tittle, Charles Berry, Wade Thomas and Chad Sizemore.

Arrangements are under the care of Tetrick Funeral Services of Johnson City, TN.
