This is the actual grave of Private William H.H. LaBarr, the youngest of three Civil War-aged sons of Charles Gordon LaBarr, Sr. His father's gravesite includes a four-sided marker which includes a "Memorial Only" inscription in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa.

William died while serving in Company C, 15th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The Ironic thing is he was killed in Camp by lightening just days before his Regiment deployed to the War.

Charles, Sr. lost three sons to the Civil War, but William was the first. This must have been a heavy burden for this patriotic family to bear.

NOTE: Records conflict on birthplace. The Illinois Muster Role says he was born in Waterford, New York.
