He was born March 13, 1919, in Madison, the son of Leonard S. and Martha Means Stewart. He was a retired roofing contractor and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
He is survived by one sister, Avalon Hyden-Lichlyter of Madison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Frances Stewart, who died April 25, 2010; his parents; and one sister, Janet Lucas.
A graveside service and burial was at Springdale Cemetery. Military honors were conducted by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
