Keith Donald Rose, son of Lewis and Esther (Bonthius) Rose, was born November 6, 1951 in Sioux Falls, SD and grew up in Hilltop. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. Keith attended South Dakota State University in Brookings for one year and Sioux Falls College for one year.
Keith was united in marriage with Kay Sample on October 6, 1973. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Keith began his career as a firefighter with the City of Sioux Falls in 1976. He retired as a Battalion Chief in February of 2004. Keith then worked part-time for Office Interiors.
Keith was a long-time active member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was past president of the congregation, Sunday School teacher, choir member and also served on numerous committees. He was a member of Trinity Lodge #200 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies of Sioux Falls, was currently Potentate of the El Riad Shrine, past Brigadier of the El Riad Fife and Drum Corps and a member of the El Riad Shrine Chanters. Above all, Keith cherished his family and the times he spent with them.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kay; two children, Kirsten Rose-Augustus and her husband, James, Brandon, SD, Kyle Rose and his wife, Kim, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Terell, Kiara, Iyana, Jessie, Javin; his mother, Esther Jerden and her husband, Ken, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Wendy Steinbeck and her husband, Troy, Sioux Falls, SD; two nieces, Taryn and Elise; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Lewis and a brother, Geoffrey.
In lieu of flowers, Keith's family requests that memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 3300 E. 18th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57103 or the El Riad Shrine Endowment Fund, 510 S. Phillips Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
