Ramona Joan (Bolin) Stanley, 78, of Parkersburg, left this earth to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 15, 2010.

She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Huntington, daughter of Thurmond Bolin and Ama M. Bolin.

She attended schools in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated from Charleston High School in 1949. She also attended Kanawha Business School in Charleston.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as a treasurer until 2008 for a total of seven years. She worked as a secretary to the congregation of North Parkersburg Baptist Church for 20 years until retirement in 1992. Before beginning at North Parkersburg Baptist, she was employed at Fenton Art Glass as a secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Stanley Sr. They would've celebrated their 59th anniversary on June 1. They had four children, Robert (Burr) Stanley Jr. (Beth) of Parkersburg, Joan Stanley Brum and Tom of Hamilton, Ohio, Wayne Stanley and Heather of Parkersburg, and Christopher Stanley (Cindy) of Newport News, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Chevis (U.S. Air Force), Cheyanne and Zachary Stanley (U.S. Army Reserves), Jessica Brum Likes (Aaron), Jared Brum (U.S. Air Force), Kaisha, Mason, Clayton and Coleman Stanley and Sarah and Maria Stanley; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Sutton Stanley; her brother, Adrian Bolin and his wife, Mary Jane, of Paris, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Anyone who knew Ramona respected and loved her. She had a compassionate spirit for those in need and had an intellectual love of numbers and words. Her greatest claim to fame in her family was her love of "Scrabble" especially when she won.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Baptist Church, Rosemar Road, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jim Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery in north Parkersburg. The family will receive friends at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, and from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial donations may be directed to Salvation Army, 534 Fifth St., Parkersburg, or Old Man River Ministries, 703 Pike St., Parkersburg who nourished her in her time of need.
