Lillian Christopherson, 87

Lillian "Christy" Christopherson, age 87, formerly of Elbow Lake, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, at the Rosewood on Broadway Care Center in Fargo. Funeral services for Christy Christopherson were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 6, at United Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake with Reverend Paul Grothe officiating. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake.

The daughter of Henry and Annie (Stalheim) Lee, Lillian was born on April 21, 1917, in Falsen Township, McHenry County, North Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Verendrye Lutheran Church in Verendrye, North Dakota, and graduated from Granville High School in 1936.

On June 9, 1939, Lillian was united in marriage to Calmer (Cal) Christopherson in Velva, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Minot until 1959 when they moved to Minnesota. They owned and operated the Surf and Sand Motel on Lake Minnewaska at Starbuck. From there Calmer and Lillian moved to Morris.

In 1966 Calmer and Lillian moved to Elbow Lake where Cal was employed by Amundson Equipment. Lillian was employed at the Red Owl store which became Super Valu store.

Lillian was a member of the United Lutheran Church and active in her circle. She was also active at the Senior Nutrition Center for many years. One of Lillian's favorite pastimes was afternoon coffee with one or more of her many friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her family. Lillian loved growing beautiful impatiens in her yard during the summer and she was an avid Twins fan.

Survivors include her children: Deanna (David) Johnson of New Richmond, WI; Gailen Christopherson of Barnesville; Kevin (Candi) Christopherson of Erhard; Carla (Chuck) Gingerich of Moorhead; and daughter-in-law: Judy Christopherson of Perham; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Mrs. Marlys Gjellstad and Mrs. Verdine Sollid, both of Velva.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; her husband Calmer in 1984; and one son, Craig, who died in May 2004.

Arrangements are with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home of Elbow Lake.
