Miss Jimmie Lucille Wildes, 81, died Monday (May 17, 2010) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness.
She was born in Charlton County on January 14, 1929, to the late Alexander Chesteen Wildes and Geminia Anderson Wildes. She lived most of her life in Bacon County, but she moved to Waycross in 1986 after the death of her step-mother, Nora Crews Wildes.
Miss Wildes was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Rachel Sunday School Class. A family member described her as a "gentle soul" with a great love for family and friends. She was known as an excellent cook who contributed her special dishes for church and family gatherings.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Prescott Bessent; and eight brothers, Arnold, Milton, Liston, Clyde, Leon, Homer, Donald and Dolphus.
Survivors include one sister, Hazel Mancil (husband Willis) of Waycross; two sister-in-laws, Annie Wildes of Hazlehurst, and Bonnell Wildes of Alma; and numerous other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (May 20, 2010) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Corinth Church Cemetery in Charlton County. The family will receive friends 1 until 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1622 Gibbs St., Waycross, GA 31501.
