I don't believe that William George Norton's father was Alfred Norton. It appears that he came to adopt the Norton surname sometime after his marriage to Patty Clark. They married in 1859 and he went then by the name George Scott and gave his father as John Scott. Their eldest children were all registered as Scott until the birth of Harriet Louisa, when she was registered as Norton in Jan/Feb/Mar of 1876, although she was baptised as Harriet Louisa Scott in April 1876 at St Catherine's Church, Liverpool
