H.E. (Ike) Broenneke, 84, passed away on May 8, 2010, at Avalon Care Center in Pullman. Ike was born on September 7, 1925, to C. Henry and Mayme Broenneke in Moscow, Idaho.

He received his education from the Ursuline Academy in Moscow, graduating from high school in 1943.

He entered the Army in September 1943, and received his honorable discharge in March 1946.

He was employed by the Idaho Transportation Department for 34 years in Lewiston, Idaho, retiring in 1982, as a project engineer.

He enjoyed his retirement years living and traveling in the Pacific Northwest with his beloved companion of 19-plus years, Ann Piel.

Ike is survived by his sister, Joyce Kinder of Pullman; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Karen Broenneke of Allyn, Wash.; brother-in-law Clarence Cameron of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Coreen (Connie) Cameron, brother-in-law, Ken Kinder, and nephew, Daryl Cameron.

Cremation has taken place, and his graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Whitman Senior Living community and Avalon Care Center of Pullman for the excellent and compassionate care given to Ike since October 2008.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Foundation in Moscow or the donor's choice.
