Irene worked in her younger life at various jobs, but the longest one was as a bottle capper for a local Root Beer Bottling Company. It is believed that Irene also had a subsequent marriage. Research is still going on about this. Irene spent much of her life in Houston (her apartment still stands in 2002 at the corner of Wheeler and LaBranch). Irene however, would spend extended time with different family members in Madisonville and Bedias while her children were growing up. Most of the Crow children were slender, slightly small people and all of the girls looked alike. This family resemblance is still evident in Irene's daughter, Juanita.
