James E. Medford, age 88 of Kerrville, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. He was born July 12, 1918, in Avery (TX) to Charles and Ruth Keen Medford.


James retired from Getty Oil Company. He was a Master Mason and had received his pin for 50 years of membership. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an incredible mathematician. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

James loved his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were number one to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 53 years, Naomi R. Alvis Medford in 1993 and his second wife, Pauline Cannon Medford in 2004; brothers, Gervaise Medford, Perry Medford and Joe Medford; and sisters, Louise Hardman, Opal Ashby and Imogene Teague.

Survivors include his daughter, Dorinda Kay Mays and husband Jimmy of Ingram; son, James Scott Medford and wife Vickie of Coppell; brother, Seldon Medford of Clarksville; grandchildren, Kevin Mays and wife Shelia and Kristi Polley and husband Brent; and great grandchildren, Ryon Mays, Brandon Polley and Christopher (Topher) Polley.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Trinity Memorial Cemetery in Big Spring.
