Mrs. Elizabeth Abts
Fountain City, Wis. (Special)---
Mrs. Elizabeth Abts, 89, died Sunday at 2:15 a.m. at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona, where she had been a patient three days.
The former Elizabeth Spehn, she was born Jan. 26, 1878, in Rohri's Valley to John and Clara Spehn and lived her lifetime in this ara. She married to Paul Abts, Oct. 22. 1901. They farmed Buffalo Ridge 42 years, retiring in Fountain City in 1943.
Following her husband's death in 1957 she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Grossell, Fountain City. She had been the oldest living member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
Survivors are: One son, Orville Fountain City; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Olivia) Grossell and Mrs. John (Florence) Grossell, Fountain City; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, George, Great Falls, Mont., and one sister, Mrs. Helen Kroman, Great Falls. Three brothers and one sister have died.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. Louis J. Clarke officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at Colby Funeral Home Tuesday after 3 p.m. and Wednesday until time of service. Rosaries will be said Tuesday at 7 p.m. by Father Clarke and at 7:15 by St. Mary's Altar Society.
