John was born in New Egypt, and has been a longtime resident of Jacobstown.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army.
John retired after 38 years working for Local 825 as a heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed collecting all types of antiques, especially antique clocks, and he enjoyed farming.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marguerite (Robbins) Southard; his son and daughter-in-law: John and Karen Southard; his daughter, Patricia Forsyth; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna Mae and Bill Reeder; his grandchildren and their spouses: David and Ashley Forsyth, Holly Presseau, John J. and Amy Southard, Michelle and Jeremy Littlefield, Wyatt Southard and Sean Southard; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt.
Relatives and Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of John to Compassionate Care, 600 Highland Dr., Suite 624, Westampton, NJ 08060.
