Manson was born in Georgia to Alfred Jarriel and Sallie Bazemore Jarriel. In 1920 he joined the Army and was assigned to Jekyl Island as a Machine Gunner in a Mule Drawn Machine Gun Unit. After he left the Army he went back to work as a farm laborer on his fathers farm which was adjacent to his grandfathers farm known as The Snug Tract of land, which had belonged to his great grandfather John Snug Jarriel. Later, about 1937-38 he married Mary Sally Wilcher-Stephens. Her husband John P Stephens had passed away and she had three sons, John, Ernie and Marion Lamar (Steve). Manson treated these children as his own. Manson and Mary had three children of thier own after they moved to Baltimore, MD. William (Billy) Jarriel, Ralph Martin Jarriel and Lillian Wanda (Donna) Jarriel-Solle. Manson worked as a forklift operator for the Crown, Cork and Seal Company in Baltimore and retired from there. After his retirement he continued to work for Filter Service in Canton, Baltimore until he fully retired about 1976. Mary, his wife had died in 1978 and in 1980 Manson moved back to Georgia. He lived with his daughter Donna and son in law Joe and thier children on Washington Street in Lyons, Georgia just a few blocks from his sisters house. He passed away May 18, 1981 from heart failure. His body was taken back to Baltimore where he was laid to rest next to his wife in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
