Righty and Dora were the parents of 12 children: Hubert, Infant Son, Losen, Beatrice, Imogene, Jessie, Herman, Lester, Odis, Ethel, Eugene and Elsy Clifton (died in infancy).

He lost his right arm while at work in a sawmill. He then became a farmer. He moved from Cullman, Alabama to Franklin Parish, Louisiana because he was a share cropper and he moved to farm. He moved his family to Missouri for one year but moved back to Franklin Parish. He died from Typhoid fever.
