Daughter of Chris Braun and Martha Bohlken. Adoptive parents Merton William Gabel and Anna Margaret Bohlken, also her biological aunt and uncle.

Verna M. Williams, 76, Paramount, Calif., a former LeMars resident, died Monday (March 4, 1991) at Paramount Charter Suburban Hospital.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Plymouth Presbyterian Church, rural Akron with Rev. Hatty Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Plymouth Presbyterian church cemetery, rural Akron.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Saturday with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

The former Verna M. Gabel was born July 19, 1914, at Akron to Mert and Annie Bohlken Gabel She attended LeMars Schools and was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church at rural Akron.

Her marriage to Charles Williams took place Jan. 2, 1940, in Sioux City. He died Sept. 11, 1973.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, LaVoy, who died Feb. 12, 1982.

Survivors are one son, one daughter and five grandchildren.
