Obituary
Gust Ornstedt was born in Halland, Sweden, in 1854* and died December 1, 1914. He came to Utica seventeen years ago and resided here until his death. He followed the trade of blacksmith. He served one or two terms as a member of the village board of Trustees.
In 1902 he was united in marriage to Bettie E. Sandstrom of Caribou, Maine.
Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss seven children: five sons and two daughters, namely William, Carl, Edward, Wilbert, Oscar**, Elvira, and Louise.
He also leaves four or five brothers and a sister: among them, Charles of Deer Park; Fred and Augusta of Maine, and John and one or two others in Sweden.
In the death of Gust Ornstedt, Utica lost a good worker, and an honest, conscientious man.
* This is an error.
**Oscar changed his name to Rex.

In addition to the children whose links appear below, Gust and Maria had another son Carl Bernard who served in WWI. I do not know what became of him after that.
