Services Thursday For Mrs. Shaw 4/10/1962 Tipton Tribune
Mrs. Effie Viola Shaw, 78, 516 Armstrong, succumbed a t 8:45 a.m; today in Tipton county hospital after an illness of several months which had been serious since last Friday. Tentative services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday from the Leatherman Morris' Funeral Home with Rev. Fanny Gentry and Rev. D. E. Matthews officiating and burial in Windfall cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Shaw was born April 7, 1884 in Tipton county, near Windfall, daughter of Rev. George and Laura (Rush) Bragg. She was married June 11, 1902 at Phlox to Oliver F. Shaw and for the last few years had resided in Tipton. She was a member of the Nazarene Church and had worked, as a practical nurse. Surviving in addition to the husband are seven children, Mrs. Velma Dunning of Tipton; Mrs. Nellie Alexander of Rossville; Alton Shaw of Greentown; Mrs. Gertrude Maher of Kokomo; Mrs. Elva A. Lee of Perkinsville; Harold O. Shaw of Jonesboro and Mrs.' Ruby Sattler of Elwood; a brother, John Bragg of Swayzee; three sisters', Mrs. Angle Ingram of Kokomo; Mrs. Iva Farthing of Sharpsville and Mrs. Ethel Brady of Windfall; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
