Bob J. Bush

Bob J. Bush, 78, passed Aug. 18, 2008, at the University of Michigan Hospital following complications of surgery.
He was born March 23, 1930 in Pankeyville, the only child of the late Robert and Wanda (Duke) Bush.
Bob was united in marriage to Mable Evans on Dec. 23, 1949, at the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church. Mable preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Marlene (John) Nelson of Midland, Mich.; and his son Robert "Bobby" of Ortonville, Mich.; four grandchildren who were the light of his life, Edward (Karen) Thomson; Julie Thomson of Milford, Mich., Sara Bush of Valley Stream, N.Y., Ashlee (Tommy) Mahaffy of Ortonville, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Marissa, Logan, Ava and Marcus; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Roberson, Arvella Smith, Betty Kimble Ann (Bill) Shea, and Vera Evans; aunts, AnnaBelle Bennett, Delores Brasher and Ruth Bush; uncles, J.W. Duke and G.C. Duke; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Joe and Christina (Thompson) Evans.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting coins, working on cars and nature. He was also known as "the bank of Grandpa." He put his health aside to care for his wife during her long illness. He was a very caring and compassionate man and will be missed by those who knew him.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Bernie Cowgill officiating and the Rev. J.W. Duke assisting. Burial will be in Saline Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.
