Theda Lee Comstock, 67, one of Anchorage's foremost radio and television personalities, died Jan. 29, 1998, of lung cancer.
A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at Romano's Restaurant.
Born in Great Falls, Mont., Sept. 3, 1930, Ms. Comstock attended Queen Anne High School and the University of Oregon before coming to Alaska in 1961.
Ms. Comstock's radio and television work made her prominent from 1962 to 1986, the most memorable of which was ''Woman's Touch'' daytime show on Channel 2. Thousands of local personalities were interviewed promoting their various charities and agendas while preparing their favorite recipes for her audience.
The family said, ''Her kind and probing questions were sure to put her often nervous guests at ease and earned her the reputation as a truly professional broadcaster, which was acknowledged by her peers who gave her the Alaska Broadcaster of the Year Award.''
Among other activities, she was consumer advocate to the governor in 1970. She served on the Corporation Alaska Mutual Savings Bank board of directors; Advertising Club of Alaska board of directors; American Cancer Society board of directors and as executive director; Alaska Broadcasters Association board of directors and as executive director; and Better Business Bureau board of directors and president 1984-1986.
Mrs. Comstock also was a former member of Soroptimist International of Anchorage; associate member of Anchorage Women's Club; was listed in Who's Who of American Women, 1977-1985; and elected to the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1988.
Ms. Comstock is survived by her son, Don Conley, and his wife, Dr. Liz O'Rourke; daughters, Kerry Kate and Erin Elizabeth of Golden, Colo.; and Bob Tubbs, her best friend and constant companion of 25 years.
Her sense of humor, ready wit and smile also will be missed, the family said.
''If she were here, her last words would have been as her tag on 'The Woman's Touch' -- 'Hold a Kind Thought.' Anchorage will,'' the family said.
Arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes & Crematory.
