William was born March 17, 1918, the son of the late Gordon Franklin Buckner and Oma Anderson. William was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening and watching the PGA Tour.
Surviving relatives include his four sons, Ted, Bobby, Ronnie and Donnie Buckner; three daughters, Barbara Cooke, Mary Haney and Sherry Buckner; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Charles Fender of Fletcher.
William is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen; brothers, Harrison and Fred Buckner; and sisters, Carrie Burnette and Ora Mae Pinkerton.
The graveside service will be held at Gashes Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home.
