Posted: Wednesday, December 17, 2003 12:00 am in the Bolivar Hearld Free Press

Leamon Wallace Havens Jr., 49, of Bolivar died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in his home.

He was born May 24,1954, to Elena Maude Wilson and Leamon Wallace Havens Sr. in Kansas City. He was a member of the American Motorcyclist Association for more than 30 years. He was a longtime business owner of H & H Manufacturing and current owner of Havens Motorsports.

During high school he was a baseball pitcher and was very proud of his pitching ability. Even though he did not graduate from high school, he was self-educated and became a great businessman. He raced his Husky in the Black Jack Enduro Circuit for many years and passed on his love of motorcycles to his children. Leamon believed in cowboy ethics and that the only way to do well in life was to work hard. He lived out the cowboy way on his ranch he acquired from all that hard work.

During his first marriage, he had three children whom he loved. He was also very proud of his three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison and Ryder. He was not able to get to know the youngest two as he did "Kenzie." He always said she was a smart girl who could walk and talk better than he could, and he was proud of the fact that she was the only one in the family besides him who could speak Spanish. He got very excited when she counted to 10 for him in Spanish.

His parents preceded him in death.

Leamon is survived by a son, Jeremy Havens and wife Stephanie Smith Havens of Springfield.; two daughters, Cherilyn Austin and her husband, Scott, of Dunnegan and Crystal Havens Casteel of Springfield;

Brother and his wife, David and Vickie Havens of Bolivar; two sisters, Marie Eagon and her husband, Dennis, of Bolivar and Emma Blacksmith of Springfield;

Six grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madison Austin, Ryder Havens and Gavin Havens, Haven Riley and Ruger Casteel

Nephews Jack Carl Follis, Joe Follis, Jay Follis, Brandon and Brock Baker, Jay and Jim Eagon and Joe and Jamie Havens; and one niece, Jennifer Havens;

Brothers and sister in-law, Marilyn and Frank Follis and Jack Baker.

Services were Monday, Dec. 15, in Pitts Chapel with burial following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Burns east of Bolivar. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Head Injury Association in care of the funeral home. A00008B2003DC17
