American Revolutionary War Patriot 1775

William was reported in Revolutionary Patriots of Montgomery County Maryland 1776-1783 by Henry Peden, Jr. as having served as a private in the 7th Maryland Regiment, Continental Army from January 31, 1780 to November 1, 1780. On March 7, 1834 the balance due him on his pension was paid to his son Nathan T. Hempstone of Montgomery County, Maryland. He was deceased at that time.

William owned land in Montgomery County, Maryland, including one acre of "James and Richard", 385 acres of "It may Be Good in Time" and 324 acres of " Resurvey On Hanover" His children were all named in a Petition to Divide Lands among his lawful heirs, filed by his daughter Frances Hempstone Trundle on November 14, 1828 in Judgement Record BS 2, folio 305, Montgomery County, their father having died intestate.

William Hempstone is buried at Monocacy Cemetery and the records state that he was a MD MIL REV WAR Veteran. He was reportedly buried on the family farm but later removed to Monocacy. Source
