Glenn was the son of John Dawson Grubbs and Lillie (Christian) Grubbs. On April 15, 1950, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Jane Derryberry, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Their marriage was blessed with three children. He served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from June 1952 to June 1954, where he was a Signal Corp Section Chief. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the OSU College of Engineering in May of 1958. After graduation, Glenn went to work for General Dynamics, completing 35 years of service prior to his retirement. Over the course of his career, the family moved extensively, living in Florida, California, New York and Texas prior to moving to Tahlequah in June of 2006. Glenn loved to fish, and enjoyed working in his yard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Since moving to Tahlequah, Glenn attended Southside Baptist Church. Glenn's faith was first and foremost in his life. Wherever he lived he served his church in whatever role was needed, including Deacon, teacher, and janitor. He gave generously of his time working with teenage boys and volunteering at various church camps. Glenn Grubbs passed from this life on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Glenna Grubbs, in 1977; his son, Phil Douglas Grubbs, in 1992; his brothers, John, James, and twin Ben Grubbs; and his sisters, Bessie Grubbs, Roxie Mooney and Dortha Reed. His memory will be treasured by his survivors: his beloved wife, Phyllis Grubbs, of the home; his son, Scott Grubbs and wife Dr. Tonia Von Ohlen of Manhattan, KS; his grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob Grubbs, both of Manhattan, KS; his nephews, John Dennis Grubbs of McAlester, OK and Dr. Terry Dale Grubbs of Muskogee, OK; as well as many other nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in the Go Ye Village Chapel, with Chaplain Paul Tavener presiding. Interment will be at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Oklahoma. Reverend John "Corky" Grubbs will preside at the graveside. Services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
