Funeral services for Charles Grant Smithers, Sr., 78, of Cookeville will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Mon., Sept. 20, 1999, at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. today, Sun., Sept. 19.
Mr. Smithers died at Standing Stone Health Care Center on Fri., Sept. 17, 1999.
He was born in Kentucky on March 16, 1921. He was the owner of Cookeville Vacuum Sales and Service and a member of the Baptist faith.
His family includes his wife, Linda Calahan Smithers of Cookeville; one daughter, Donna Tidwell Coss of Nashville; five sons, Grant and Shawn Smithers, both of Cookeville, Andy Smithers of Calif., Danny Martin of Cookeville and Ted Tidwell of Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Chris, Chantell and Courtney Smithers, Theresa Shelton, Melanie Hutchison, Beth Goforth, Robbie and Bryan Coss, Lisa, Lorrie and Steve Tidwell; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Smithers was preceded in death by one sister, Cornelia Tynowrec.
