He retired on 6 July 1956 from Phillips Petroleum Company. He farmed and raised cattle in Drumright, OK. He was also involved in an explosion in Nov. 1928 at an oil field. He was the only one that came out alive. The explosion blew him about 80 feet and he was confined to the hospital for months. He worked in the oil fields in Drumright, Beggs, Seminole. He followed his trade in Nebraska and Missouri. He fathered 6 children (4 daughters & 2 sons)
