RITES FOR AGED SHERIFF ARE HELD AT POOLESVILLE

James U. Miles, County Official for Fifty Years, Succumbs to Pneumonia

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 9--Funeral services for James U. Miles, who died Sunday morning at his home, at Poolesville, were held this morning in the Baptist church at Poolesville. Mr. Miles died of pneumonia after an illness of four days. He was eighty-one years old and is survived by five sons, all of whom reside in the West. He was a life-long resident of the county and for fifty years served the county as a deputy sheriff, having been re-appointed by Sheriff L. Howard, only a few weeks ago.
