Carol Imogene Byrd, 73 of Escatawpa passed from this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 in Pascagoula. She was born August 8, 1936 in Foley, Alabama. Mrs. Byrd was a member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church. She enjoyed driving cars for Estabrook Motors and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis L. & Nellie Drucella Matthews Lamkin; husband, James Herbert "Hubby" Byrd; sons, Charles L. "Bubba" Byrd, James L. "BB" Byrd; brother, Robert Lamkin; and sister, Joyce Middleton. Mrs. Byrd is survived by sons, Darrell Lewis Byrd and Charles Lynn and Tracey Byrd, all of Escatawpa; daughters, Peggy Jean McMahon of Wade, Darlene Louise Byrd of Escatawpa and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" & Kevin Williamson of Pascagoula; sister, Nellie Elizabeth Wainwright of Theodore, Alabama; grandchildren, Christy & Stan Lovelace, Jennifer Dees, Hannah Hess, Daphney Byrd, Lydia Byrd, Ashton Byrd, Shannon Williamson, Pamela Williamson and Kevin Williamson; great-grandchildren, Shane Lovelace, Britnie Allen, and Jason Allen; best friend, Doris Moore of Escatawpa and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6:00 until 9:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00am from Safe Harbor United Methodist Church in Escatawpa with Rev. Tom Potter officiating. There will be a one hour visitation in the church prior to service time. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Safe Harbor United Methodist Church Building Fund @ 12000 Hwy 63 Moss Point, Mississippi 39562. The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Hospice of Light for the loving care and dedication shown to Mrs. Byrd during her illness.
