The former Rosa Blaser was born April 25, 1887, in Hasle, Switzerland, to John Blaser and Magdelena (Mosiman) Blaser.
She came to America in February 1909, and was married to John Hoffman in Beloit, KS. They lived in Kansas for five years and during that time four children were born: Freda, Gertrude, Fred and Ernest.
The family then moved to a ranch in the Gallatin Valley near Middle Creek. In 1920, the family moved to a ranch southwest of Belgrade. Two children, Evelyn and Charlie, were born in Montana.
On Dec. 27, 1959, she was preceded in death by her husband and later by a son, Fred Hoffman, and a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn R. Eblen, formerly of Belgrade.
Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Freda Engstom from California, and Mrs. Gertrude Hutchison of Bozeman; two sons, Ernest Hoffman of Belgrade, and Charlie Hoffman of Belgrade; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
