Christopher Columbus "Lum" Penn, son of Martha and Joseph Penn, was born December 18, 1874, near Mineola, Missouri and passed away August 10, 1949 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

On February 10, 1897, he was united in marriage to Bertha J. Patton of Jonesburg, Missouri who survives him.

To this union 11 children were born, nine living, namely; Mrs. E. L. Coleman of St. Charles; Mrs. A. P. Needham of Oakland, California; Charles Penn of New Florence; Mrs. Chas. Coleman of St. Louis, Jesse L. Penn of Middletown; George E. Penn of Middletown; Miss Violet Penn of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Melvin Gruber of Montgomery City; and Mrs. Donald Kirkpatrick of Leavenworth, Kansas. Two children died in infancy.

He leaves 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. George Frank of Montgomery City; one brother, Charles Penn of New Florence; besides a number of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 13, 1949 at Hopkins Funeral parlor with burial in the Montgomery City Cemetery.
