FRANK M. COE OF DIXON DIES

Dixon, May 13 - Stricken with a heart attack in the lobby of a Miami, Fla. hotel late Saturday Frank M. Coe, pioneer Lee county resident and father of Glenn F. Coe, past grand commander of the Grand Commandery of Illinois, Knights Templar, collapsed and died before medical aid could reach him.

Mr. Coe would have been 77 years old next Thursday.

In the company of Lew E. Edwards of Dixon and Burt Vogler of Ashton, Mr. Coe left a week ago last Saturday on an auto tour of the southern states.

They spent last Saturday sight-seeing in Miami and in the evening after dinner seated themselves in the lobby of a downtown hotel. A few moments later Mr. Coe collapsed and died.

Active in G.O.P.
Mr. Coe, during his long career, served several terms as county supervisor from Palmyra township. He was active in Republican politics and attended many national conventions of the party. He was a member of the Dixon commandery, Knights Templar and other Masonic bodies.

He was born in Palmyra township on May 16, 1852, a son of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Coe who came to Lee county from New York state in 1835, and were among the early settlers of this vicinity.

His marriage to Zett E. Williams occurred June 23, 1858. One son, Glenn F. Coe, was born to them. Mrs. Coe died in 1889.

At the time of his death Mr. Coe still owned the old homestead in Palmyra where his parents settled although since 1905 he had made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Carrie, at 123 Lincoln way.

Funeral Wednesday
The body will arrive in Dixon Tuesday evening and funeral services will be held from the late home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and from the Brinton Memorial Masonic temple at 2L30 p.m. where a Knight Templar service will be in charge of Past Grand Commander of Illinois commandery, Henry R. Lumblade of Chicago.

Rev. A.B. Whitcombe, a past commander of Dixon Commandery, will be in charge of committment rites in the Palmyra cemetery.

IMPRESSIVE RITES HELD FOR F.M. COE

Dixon, May 16 - The last rites of the late Francis Mortimer Coe was held at the Brinton Memorial Masonic home on Wednesday afternoon. The services at the temple were in charge of the officers of the Grand commandery, Knights Templar of Illinois.

The services at the grave were in charge of the Dixon lodge of Elks. Friendship lodge of Masons was in attendance in a body as well as the members of the order of Eastern Star. Mr. Coe became a Mason in 1915 when his son, Glen, was master of Friendship lodge and his son conferred the degree upon his father. Rev. A.B. Whitcomb, past commander of Dixon commandery had charge of the religious rites.

The funeral was one of the largest and most impressive ever held in Dixon. Among those from out of town were W.H. Dunn, L.R. Kentner, D.A. Howard of Mt. Carrol; D.W. Isenhour of Clinton, Ill., M.A. Stillsbaugh, Chas. J. Rettern, W.H. Jennings, pgc; A.D. Wahl, gg; D.W. Isenhour, dgc; T.G. Taggart, gcg; C.H. Smith, cjw; E.S. Welet, gstb; C.J. Mahenberg, ggwb; C.A. Hallgren, gw; E.A. Glad, pgg, all of Chicago; A.F. Smith, Geo. F. Wacklin, Robt. A. Moren, B.L. Figley of Freeport; F.F. Fitch, H.E. Seiper, of Sterling; B.C. Downs of La Grange; J.W. Provost of Pecatonica.

The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the cemetery in Palmyra.
