Mrs. Brown was on her way to Fairmont to attend the funeral of her uncle, James E. Ritchey. The accident happened 12 miles from Washington. Mrs. Brown lived a few hours after being taken to the hospital. State troopers said Mrs. Brown's car rolled off the highway.
Mrs. Brown was born in Geneva, but the family moved to Fairmont many years ago. She was employed in the courthouse in Geneva several years before marriage. She had lived at Kansas City, Mo., 22 years. She attended school at Fairmont and was graduated from the Louisville, Ky. Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After her marriage to Rev. Rex E. Brown, they went to Africa as missionaries for the Presbyterian church, being stationed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. they operated a youth center at Lulubourg. They have been at home on furlough.

Vivian Eleanora Ritchey Brown died 46 years ago - May 5, 1967 - in an automobile accident in Kansas. Vivian was driving to attend the funeral of her uncle. Vivian was the daughter of Francis Sumber Ritchey and Edith Margaret Klein, born June 28, 1924, in Geneva, Nebraska. She married Rex Edwin Brown. Vivian and Rex had 5 children: Randy, Rodney Malcom, Kathleen Sue, Ritchey Edwin and Rickey Carter Brown.
